Part 3: The Happy Ending

Patrick looks at Joe. Joe looks back. Someone has to pry the whip from Pete's hands before he hurts himself.

Right.

So Patrick doesn't know how Pete managed to disentangle himself and set himself loose of the binding. He suspects Joe wasn't as thorough as he should have been. Then there was the whip, which Pete hit himself over the forehead with twice before he snapped it in Joe's general direction. It caught Joe unawares and sent him sprawling backwards into some old boxes.

The next bit of heroic stuntwork consisted of Pete swinging around after the whip got tangled in one of the ceiling beams. It marked the point where Patrick and Joe headed for cover. Patrick's head still hurt from the dictionary he received to the head (his suggestion, by the way). Pete's parents' house is visible from the doorway of their old shed. Andy is waving.

And then there's the part where Pete finally lets go of the whip and Joe hurries back inside Pete's parents' house (Pete's mom made waffles or something), and Pete's suddenly in Patrick's face. And then there's the kissing. Patrick didn't expect the kissing.

Basically, it's Pete leaning in, planting his lips on Patrick's, leaning back, and putting his arms around him.

"What are you doing?" He should be more outraged. He should also not be snuggling into Pete.

Pete is grinning. The urge to kick him arises, but Patrick settles with punching his arm lightly.

"Hey, I rescued the, uh, guy in distress. It's my just reward, smartass."

Andy calls them over before Joe finishes all the waffles.
